Biography
Stephen Rowe is an American actor and playwright. Stephen trained Emerson College (BA), Cornell University (MA) and the Yale School of Drama (MFA). He also studied acting with Jerzy Grotowsky’s Polish Lab Theater in Wroclaw, Poland. Stephen’s film work includes Basic Instinct (1992) , The Pink Panther (2006) and Steven Spielberg’s The Post (2017). He had recurring roles on Beverly Hills 90210 and Marvel’s Daredevil. He also appeared on television in multiple episodes of Law and Order, The Black List, Elementary, The Sinner, American Odyssey, Cheers, and Blue Bloods. Stephen has performed in 11 Broadway shows, including the Tony Award winning The Goat (2002), Frost/Nixon (2007) and Red (2010). He completed 3 seasons at Yale Rep, and 6 seasons at the American Repertory Theater, where he was a Founding Company Member. Stephen was honored with the Bay Area Critics Circle Award for Best Actor in Sight Unseen (1991) at Berkeley Rep; and he was nominated by the Connecticut Critics Circle for Best Actor for his performance as Mark Rothko in Red (2017) at Westport Playhouse. He has also authored, arranged and performed 3 one-person shows, including Albee’s Men that premiered at Provincetown Rep and ART, and had a run at The Old Globe; and he has written 2 original plays.
